Greek Hummus Dip

So I am a self proclaimed “Dip Junkie.” I used to hide my Dip obsession, but now I’m going to shout it for the entire world to hear! I also realize that this is not in the recipe section, that's how much of a dip fanatic I am. I had to share it front and center!

I love Greek salad and I love hummus so put them together in a dip and what do you get? Heaven!

See Heaven!

I thought raw onion would be a fabulous idea because it’s my favorite ingredient in Greek salad, other than the feta cheese of course! However it was quite strong. If you are not an onion lover at heart, I suggest not adding it. I hate hate hate olives so I left those out of course!

I just whipped up a small bowl for myself so that is what my portions are.

Ingredients:

1 C. Hummus
¼ C. Diced Cucumber
¼ C. Diced Red pepper
¼ C. Diced Onion (Optional)
Diced Olives (enough to sprinkle on top)
Feta Cheese (enough to sprinkle on top)

STEP ONE. Spread hummus at bottom of bowl.
STEP TWO. Chop cucumber, red pepper, onion, olives and feta.
STEP THREE. Mix Veggies together and sprinkle on top oh hummus.
STEP FOUR. Sprinkle olives and feta on top.
STEP FIVE. Enjoy!

How easy was that?

I’d also like to mention how ridiculously high the amount of red squiggly lines were in this post. Yikes! My brain is in such a fog today. TGIF

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

My Rainstorm Beauty

This will be my second project now! Hooray for me!
I was originally going to do this piece in a bluish gray but when I saw Sherwin & Williams Rainstorm(6230) I was just mesmerized. I apologize in advance for the poor quality of the last pictures :(
This piece is for sale! E-mail me if interested!

Before
I love that I could use the original hardware, that's always a bonus!

I promise I will work on getting better photos!

TA DA!

I have to say I was quite pleased with this paint and totally in love with the colour!
Thank you for stopping by!

Charity Intelligence... Do you have it?

I am so sorry about the week of no posts! Life has a funny way of never slowing down. But any who, I am in the midst of Christmas present shopping. We have a love hate relationship.

Are you looking for the perfect present for that one person who has everything? Or like my boyfriend whom when you ask what he’d like for Christmas, simply shrugs his shoulders and says, “I don’t know, I don’t really need anything.” Ugh!

I have the perfect solution for you! Buy them a goat, or a bunny or how about some baby chicks?! Absurd you say? Well technically they wouldn’t be receiving the goat or the bunny or the baby chicks but rather donate them in their name to a family and community in need. I absolutely love Plan Canada. It so fun to look through all of the options and pick out what you’d like to give. Nothing makes me feel better than knowing that I can share Christmas with someone across the world. It doesn’t stop with animals either. You can donate wells, fresh water, an education, and lots more.

When participating in charities or donations it’s really quite important to do your research. Find out how much of your contributions are really going to the cause. A great website I found is CharityIntelligence Canada. It’s lays it all out. It was a great eye opener!

I hope you are all having fun getting those Christmas lights and decorations up, I know I am.

Stay tuned for the big reveal! I’ll post some pictures of my finished desk later tonight! Think vintage, high gloss, deep blue! Ekk!

Here is a little sneak peak

Purple! Need I say more?

I had been reading Warline Painting's blog post "Purple - The Hot Interior Paint Colour for 2012" and I thought since we're in the last few months of the year I'd write my own favorite purples for the 2012 hot colour of the year.

Heidi has such a great eye for colour. One of the best pieces of advice she has ever given me for picking colours is "Don't always go for the pretty colours, go for the useable colours." This is awesome advice! Especially for someone like me, or how I used to be, I'd go through a fan deck and pick out all the colours I thought were prettiest. What's wrong with that you ask? Some colours may be pretty but you have to pay careful attention to their undertones and find colours that read well on walls and furniture. Also you have to keep in mind the colours it's pairing with. Find a pretty AND useable colour.

Back to purple!

When it comes to purples, I've grown to love the sultry, sexy, grey under-toned purples.

Tempest AF-590

Benjamin Moore Tempest

My all time Favourite is Benjamin Moore Tempest.

Tempest is so versatile, it can create urban living rooms, divine bedrooms, and sweet powder rooms. I just can't get enough.

How can you not fall in love with this?!
One of my favorite products is Farrow & Ball. It's not on the wallet-friendly list but the richness and pigment of colour is incredible. They use natural ingredients which gives it its beautiful colours and "props" from me for being Eco-friendly. These are my Two favorite purples because of their richness. Brassica is my Gray based beauty and Pelt is my daring Purple for those brave souls out there!

Pelt No.254
Brassica No.271

This one is for all those expecting, with allergies, or those who just hate those darn VOCs. Mythic paint is a product that was developed by the U.S. Navy for the painting of the interior of submarines. That means it has zero toxins and zero VOCs. This fabulous paint can still hold it's own with a great selection of colours. I love Violet fog, it reminds me of my room when I was young. Definitely a colour fit for a princess.

Lastly I have a neutral purple from Sherwin & Williams. Can you tell I love purple? What are some of your favorites? Do share!

If you treasure your own life, you should treasure other’s lives

“Even in the deepest suffering, there is significance there is a meaningful process of positive possibilities. We have to recover the language of humanity. We cannot understand suffering without it… there’s this struggle in life in every class of people…it’s what we do with it that matters.”
-   William B Hurlbut M.D.

I have a huge heart for missions. My grandma is a missionary. I can remember sitting and listening as she recounted her tales of her trips to Haiti, Taiwan, Kenya, and the list goes on. I am inspired of the strength and courage she has. I know in my heart that this strength has come from God. As I grow and become more self-confident I find myself taking bigger and bigger leaps in this direction. In the spring I’m going off to Japan and I’m hoping that through teaching English I can find a way to minister to one of the most difficult cultures to minister to.

You might be wondering why I’ve gone off on a rant about missions well last night my boyfriend put on this documentary. It is called “The Human Experience.” The depth of its insightfulness was just incredible. I sat there watching, heart breaking, as they experienced what it was like to be homeless and visiting a center that helped to rehabilitate children who suffered from parental abuse. The extent to which these poor, innocent, defenseless children were beaten to, it just made me sick, I almost turned it off. I was livid.

“If you treasure your own life, you should treasure other’s lives.”
-William B. Hurlbut M.D.

I want to become a part of the people who make a difference and a stand. One of my friends recently went to Kenya and he lived with a family in their hut, he experienced what life was like for them. He told me that once you see the way they live it changes you completely. You don’t take anything for granted when you return home and your entire being and goal is to go back and help them.

In this documentary they go to Africa and its mind-boggling to us how happy they are. They don’t have an I-phone 5 or a car but but but… How are they happy? Because they understand the value of life. They are happy and joyful just to be alive. They have faith and believe in God and trust in him. They aren’t distracted by the rush and technologies we have.

We live in a day and age where we rush, we rush to work, we rush to get the kids, we rush to make money to keep up with the social statuses that make us acceptable and elite. I am guilty of this too. I can guarantee you that both ways of my morning commute I get tailgated, and I’m not a snail of a driver. 1. Tailgating does not get you there faster. 2. Wake up a bit earlier, enjoy your breakfast. You will have a way better day believe me.

I highly recommend watching “The Human Experience” It’s even on Netflix!

End of rant- Thank you so much for reading this. It means a lot to me. Spend some quiet time with your loved ones as well and treasure other’s lives as you treasure your own!

Good Design Is Felt

There are two things that I must do before getting out of bed each morning. If I don't do them I don't get out of bed. Please tell me I'm not the only one!

ONE: Press snooze about a gazillion times for about two hours          previous to waking up. It's pretty embarrassing but if you took a look at my phone I think I have about 5 different alarms with snooze set to repeat 5 times. It is kind of out of hand.

TWO: Once I've finished my alarm bombardment, I have to check the ropes, I check out twitter, my Facebook, and sometimes Pinterest depending how much time I have.

What a statement.
I was in awe.

I found this as I was doing my browsing routine this morning. I sat there and I took a look around. It's so right. Every room, deign, outfit, colour, and landscape I have ever loved has given me some sort of a feeling. Bravo gentlepurespace, awesome picture and statement. I found some designs that have made me feel feminine, festive and cultural.
